The Great Barrier Reef

One of the reasons for staying in Cairns, Australia, was to visit The Great Barrier Reef. Our transfer picked us up at 7am and we got back about 6pm - a long day but well worth the effort. It is absolutely awesome and it's no wonder that it is the tourist attraction most want to do.

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the seven wonders of the natural world, and pulling away from it, and viewing it from a greater distance, you can understand why. It is larger than the Great Wall of China and the only living thing on earth visible from space.

We did a couple of dives either side of lunch on board and both times I was last back on board. The colours of the reef and fish surpass that I've seen in The Maldives and Egypt. I took 500 photo's over nearly 3 hours; I look forward to showing my dad who's a qualified diving instructor.

The blipfoto's give you an idea of what there is to see on the reef.
