Molesworth Station Day 2

We spent the night in the alpine village of Hamner Springs which boasts hot springs to soak in. This morning we woke up to rain! After getting under way we quickly climbed up again into the Inner Kaikoura mountains. Foggy to start, but soon cleared, the temperature remained resolutely low 6°.
It felt at times as if we were the only people alive. Tootling along in our mini van we were surrounded by mountains covered in in pale, pale yellow grass and lots of Angus cows.
In the afternoon the clouds cleared, we stopped at lovely Lake Tennyson and passed over one of New Zealand's highest roads, Saddle pass at 1,347 metres above sea.
