Cutting up a tree in the pouring rain isn't a lot of fun. This one is was growing in the drainage swale between our house and the house next door. There is usually no water in it. Now, however, it is a fairly swiftly moving stream and oak trees do not like their feet wet so it just uprooted itself and fell across our neighbor's driveway. As you can see, for such a big tree, they don't have very big roots.

While OilMan deals with the tree people and the insurance people, I went to the store, noticing in the way that the Santa Rosa Creek is getting pretty high. Fortunately it flows into Spring Lake so there is some control over the level. It is not encouraging when the level is halfway up the walls of the concession stand and the rest rooms.

While I was in the store, my phone went off with yet another flash flood warning. It's an obnoxious attention getting sound, so it's not surprising that numerous phones all over the store went off at the same time. The message, "Do not travel in flooded areas" is always the same and never helpful. A woman in the store showed me how to disable the notification.

Ozzie has made it clear how he feels about the rain. Check out the extra if you like.
