People at Work #17 : : The Red Stove

We had to wait for it to be built in Italy and painted at the Ferrari factory (really!) It was worth the wait and the young man who ever so carefully brought it up the stairs on a dolly was almost as excited about delivering a red one as we were about receiving it. The gods were smiling on us today as there hasn't been a drop of rain to mar the proceedings.

When I came home from class the electrician was here stringing a line from the ceiling from whence it used to drop down to an oven in a wall which has since been removed.

We learned about that wall oven yesterday from our neighbor who came over to tell us that our tree had fallen across her driveway . We may learn more about the evolution of our house tomorrow when the tree guys come to cut up the fallen tree and check the rest of them. Oak trees not only have shallow roots, but grow incredibly long branches which cantilever out over a surprising distance until they suddenly fall without warning.

OilMan's tendency to get things out and not put them away came back to bite him today. Access to the crawl space under our house is through our closet floor which involves moving a heavy wooden cover set into the floor. He opened it for the electrician who wound up climbing into the attic on a ladder instead. Going into the dark closet, OilMan walked straight into the open hole. He may have a sore bottom tomorrow, but since he doesn't seem to have injured too much more than his dignity, I can't help laughing. This after he took apart the vacuum cleaner to put in a new bag, and wandered off to do something else, leaving the vacuum cleaner in pieces in the midst of the kitchen.

He has wisely taken himself out of the house, and out of the sound of my voice....leaving me to put the vacuum cleaner back together and put it away.

Now what am I going to do with the old stove which is on our front porch?
