Final Game

I helped Peter with his college application essays, one of which was about how he thought during a soccer game in order to best help the team. Today was his last game at Maria Carillo High School and it seemed only right that OilMan and I go to watch him play.  We didn't realize it when we went, but we were also stand in parents for Jim and Dana, who flew into the teeth of a storm in Chicago to see old friends and see Hamilton (for the third time). There was a senior recognition ceremony before the game, so we escorted Peter onto the field where he was introduced and presented with candy. I was presented with flowers, even though it was Dana who washed his uniform every night, made sure he had what he needed for the games and went to them. I'll give them to her if they last until she gets back on Monday.

I put a picture of Peter in action during the game in the extras. I must remember to ask him if he's ever clocked the number of miles he runs in one game....

We rushed home to see Tim and Owen who came up to spend a little boy time with Pop (OilMan) so that Joni could spend a little girl time with Maya at home.
Peter will be over later for spaghetti....He had quite a little cheering section consisting of some of the players on the girls' team. Their game followed Peter's and he was planning to stay for their game and return the favor.
