Temple dancer

This is a statue in the garden of the pit stop restaurant for the bus to Delhi from Jaipur.  She is one of two and I think I blipped the other 3 years ago.   The drivers of all vehicles and motorbikes are so laid back here – nobody raises a fist or shouts when someone cuts in and that is constantly happening. Cars cross the highway and everybody makes way. On our side of the triple carriageways the lorries stuck to a lane and we sashayed round them.  Many vehicles, camel carts, flocks of sheep came the wrong way down the left hand lane – this is awful in the night as suddenly you see blinding lights, or not as the case may be, coming towards you – it is all part of life or death here.  I got off before the bus entered Delhi proper and took a tuk tuk which in the most isolated spot stopped and offloaded me into another tuktuk as he didn’t want to go any further.  I was so angry with him but smiled sweetly, gave him less than half what he asked for and told him to take it or leave it.  The second driver was much nicer so got a good tip at the end. Am now with a Russian friend and her Indian husband in a rather posh flat  and being pampered to death - lucky me!
