Fireman Joe

Me and Mrs S were thoroughly impressed with the drills and the skills of Joe and his half dozen school mates. They have spent the week at Dalkeith Fire Station. This morning we watched them in exercises, rescuing people from burning buildings, climbing up the high rise block with ladders and setting up and working the fire hoses. All done very professionally and under the tutelage of the guys from the Fire Service who said they were the best bunch of kids they'd had through. This is Joe stepping forward to receive his certificate.

Later he headed off to play football in the snow. I met Ruby in the supermarket.

Later still, Ruby made us all a delicious pepper, onion and quorn pasta dish. Friday night's will be Ruby's domain now as she gets used to cooking so she doesn't starve when she heads off to University.

It must also be recorded that I unearthed a London Brick. In an old barn in East Lothian. Which is odd. Check it out in the Extra's brick fans ( I appreciate that's a small audience).
