Administering an injection

Things have taken a turn for the worse with my Mum since Christmas.  One of the complications (on top of the hateful Alzheimer's) is blood sugar control as my Mum is diabetic.

All memory of being 65 years a diabetic has gone, so Mum is eating all sorts of things she shouldn't and her blood sugars are usually far too high.  This may be a contributory factor to sleepless nights, sleepy days and incontinence, and most recently a severe urinary infection.  Oh the joys...

So the specialist consultant has advised Dad to change the insulin type and regime again, and I'm here to give him a bit of confidence (since I'm a diabetic on insulin too).  Mum has had some horrendously distressing hypo (low blood sugar) episodes so it's very tempting to err on the side of high rather than low, but this can't go on as it's obviously causing problems.

So 3-4 injections a day is a possible solution to those issues and even more frequent blood sugar testing.

Full time carer became even more full time.
