Monte Alban

Another sunny day in Oaxaca, Mexico. It was a day of doing things on my own as John was laid up with a touch of Montezuma's Revenge! I headed off into the town with my camera and soon found plenty to hold my interest, especially in the 'dereliction' collection of which there were many examples. The whole society here runs on street stalls, lining just about every street - a great many sell food but there are lots of other items for sale - any thing you wanted really. I came across an complicated 15th birthday photographic session which looked more elaborate than a wedding!

We had planned to go to the ruins at Monte Alban, only a short journey from Oaxaca. John wasn't up to the trip so I went off on my own. I knew roughly where to go to get the bus and, with a couple of key Spanish phrases, soon got to the right place, bought the ticket and was escorted to the bus. Monte Alban was a key establishment around the BC/AD era and it's not know why it all fell apart. I was able to have a good look round with photos to prove it, before heading back to the bus.

I'm not great at finding my way about but somehow got back to the hotel without too much trouble. My fitbit says I'm an 'overachiever' as I've walked well over 8 miles today (it's said that several days this week though).

John is a lot better now so we are going to try to find some food that isn't full of chilli or beans!
