Hen Pheasant

When I was eating my breakfast this morning I spotted a couple of hen pheasants wandering about underneath the bird feeders. We tend to see pheasants around this time of the year and the cock pheasant was around in the paddock behind us yesterday but too far away for a good shot. As the plumage of the females is so distinctive and there was a chance to catch them up close and personal I took a series of  shots of them as they looked for food underneath the feeders. I quite liked this one as it shows the more delicate breast feathers as well contrasty textures of the back feathers and in any case she was definitely fixing me with her beady eye.
