An ordinary life....

You, Me and the Stroganoff...

David was working from home again today so I had a lie in till 8.30am.  Bliss :-))

Joiner arrived to cut the gap for the through-floor lift and was here for most of the day.  There is now a hole (see extras) between the dining room and our bedroom that will remain there till at least the end of next week when the lift will (hopefully) be installed.  I have increased David's life insurance just incase he has a terrible accident ;-))

Pool specialist arrived to acid clean the pool and then it was time to turn the water on.  Woo hoo!   It will take a day and a half to fill apparently.  I hope they have calculated this correctly and we don't come through in the morning to find the kitchen ankle deep in water!

Alan wanted to go through and see how it was progressing.  He was so excited, then not chuffed when he was told no, he couldn't go in this afternoon!  According to him the fact the water was freezing cold and only four inches deep was no reason to delay going in!

Valentine dinner of beef stroganoff and lots of laughter remembering Valentine's Day 1988 (age 21) and the first time I ever made us beef stroganoff (Delia's recipe :)    Eating it in my bedroom listening to the Now That's What I Call Music Smash Hits cd on my Amstrad stacking system hifi and a portable gas heater providing the heating :-))

Tonight we listened to an 80s playlist as we ate and I commented at how quickly time has passed and how much water has gone under the bridge between then and now and D's comment was "yes but in the end it's still you, me and the stroganoff and that's all that matters."   I think that is up there in the top 5 amazing things he's ever said to me.

Had a quick check of the water level in the pool.  It's up to step number three!
