Pigeons or doves?

Whatever they are they were a bit of a surprise at the estuary gardens. They don't fit at all. They were busy pecking at something on the log and didn't budge an inch as I walked past to get some foreground for the wide angle wednesday shot.

Not a wonderful effort as everything seems very pale in the morning sun.
Plus I managed to fall ever so gently over on top of the fern and bullrushes while bent down trying to make something of them. No injuries or blood, just a hurt pride that I didn't see the bank the bullrushes are below.
