Abstract Thursday

With all downpours yesterday, there were daffodils on the ground so I was out after feeding the cats to cut them and bring them in and once again, add them to my carnations.

A daffodil fact for you all. If you are adding daffodils to an arrangement of other flowers, the daffodils could kill the other flowers if you don't do this first! After cutting the daffodils, put them in a vase of their own for 4 to 6 hours before adding them to the other flowers. Do NOT retrim the stems when transferring the daffodils.

It is the "sap" that the daffodils release that clogs the uptake veins of the other flowers and therefore causes them to die off. Putting them in the separate vase first allows them to release this "sap" before adding them to the other flowers.

Today is supposed to be sunshine all day, although a bit on the cold side. Still much better than yesterday.
