Getting the sparkle back

Comma butterfly

This handsome butterfly was sunning itself while I was out blipping at lunchtime. Then sun was coming and going and as soon as the sun came out, the butterfly opened its wings. As soon as the sun disappeared, the butterfly closed its wings. Solar power in action!

I didn't recognise this butterfly, which isn't entirely surprising, as I'm no expert. However neither did one of my colleaugues who knows quite a lot about wildlife. I checked it online this evening and it's listed as being common in England and Wales and seems to be making its way slowly northwards - so it's a new butterfly for these parts.
