The Bridge to The Middle Island

I'm standing on the main island, Härnön. This footbridge goes over to the middle island (Mellanholmen). It got this name, I guess, because it is the small island between the one I'm standing on and the mainland.
One explanation for the founding of Härnösand was that in 1585 the king wanted all goods transported to the area to be landed on the island of Härnön. They could then be transported over the bridge to the mainland and taxed as they passed by.
This particular bridge was built in 1985 to celebrate the 400 year aniversary of the founding of the town. I hope it was paid for out of the taxes!
