Where Eagles Dine

Thailand 2017, Day 32
We landed back on Koh Jum at about 9:30 am after an hour's ferry trip from Koh Lanta and then a long tailed boat from the ferry to shore. We're staying at the same place that we did on our way down south, and it's great -  lovely accommodation, excellent food, and super people (they are the ones who looked after me so well when I had my skin problems a few weeks ago).
We went to the village for lunch at a little restaurant on the end of the pier, and spent a very pleasant hour or so watching the sea eagles hovering over the sea and occasionally diving for fish - see main picture. Not a bad way to spend Monday lunchtime.
A Danish lady told us about the sea eagles coming into roost at sunset, so later on we headed along the beach to where she  had suggested we wait. Sure enough we were treated to a real spectacle of about 20 to 25 of these magnificent birds, as they circled round and round, on a last flight before bed-time. Amazing to see. We didn't take any photos as it was too dark by this time, but it was so lovely just to stand there and watch in awe.
We went to bed at about 9pm as C is getting up at 5am to go out fishing with a local chap, and we heard the most enormous thunderclap I've ever heard and saw the lightening flash simultaneously, so it must have been rght above us.
Extra is a butterfly in the village.
