Special

I have been raising crocuses from seed for nearly 30 years.  Occasionally something special comes along and this is one such.  The parent plant, Crocus sieberi atticus, has lilac purple flowers and usually breeds true.  So a yellow one is exceptional, almost certainly a hybrid with Crocus cvijicii which is yellow.  Crocus guru Janis Ruksans in Latvia has never known this cross to happen so it's certainly rare.  Amazingly I actually have two ... another appeared today in a different pot!

Jamie continues to make good progress but is not yet ready for the big leap of coming home.  So normal life remains suspended :-(
