Montague Burton

A brief sunny break in Storm Doris allowed me to capture Montague Burton in all his glory. I have captured this before but this shot shows the complete facade   Burton's architect; Harry Wilson had fully embraced art deco by the 1930s and his flamboyant style  is conserved all over the UK. Montague , according to Wiki, was born in Meshe Osinsky in Lithuania  and came to England in 1900 aged 15 unable to speak English.   The shop fronts are a lasting example of the contribution of one Eastern European to the heritage of the UK.
