The Old Forge (Thursday 23rd February 2017)

After battening down the hatches for Doris, the storm subsided by the afternoon and I went outside to check for damage. I'd seen the treetops buffeting in the wind and noticed the blossom on the plum tree that had begun to emerge recently. It was still fairly windy and I had a spot of bother catching the bloom in between gusts. This is the one that came out best.

Lozarhythm of the Day:
Pretenders - Cuban Slide (recorded live, 15 July 2009, O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire, London)
My admiration for the Pretenders and Chrissie Hynde in particular has been further fuelled by replaying in stages the box set of their albums from 1979 to 1999, seeing the excellent BBC4 documentary on Chrissie Hynde, Alone, the other day, and getting hold of a couple of their and her albums I didn't have before: Stockholm, Alone and Breaking Up The Concrete, all of which were great despite the ever changing line-ups of the band.
They played some concerts supporting Breaking Up The Concrete in 2009 and one of these dates was released on video and a CD that I was listening to today. I was trying out a brand new pair of Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7GM headphones that came this morning. They sound fantastic and are very comfortable to wear. Cuban Slide was on the B-side of Talk Of The Town  and has often appeared in their stage set - indeed I saw them perform it at the Paris Theatre for the Radio One In Concert  programme on 8th August 1979.
