Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Johnny And The Hurricanes - Rockin' Goose (1960)
Around about this time I was in Birmingham's Bull Ring with my mother, shopping for school clothes. A band was playing at the bottom of the down escalator as people wandered past taking no notice and the sign beside them said 'Johnny and the Hurricanes'. I knew of them and their singles and wondered if they really were this famous American band.
When I went into a hi-fi repairers to pick up a piece of kit another customer came in with a gift for the audio engineer. It was a vinyl copy of Rockin' Goose as a gift for repairing a juke box of hers, when he'd said he was after a copy, so I told him about seeing them play live for a few minutes.
