Snippets

Text clipped from a magazine, page held open by a ruler.

What will become of these tiny snippets of text?

Perhaps they've already served their purpose. It took hours to cut them out, and I didn't think about anything else, not even Donald Trump.

I planned to use them in a collage, and/or as prompts for writing.

But perhaps they could be prompts for painting as well.
I'm intrigued by this quote about the great British artist Sir Howard Hodgkin.

“Hodgkin is an artist who takes up a position that is neither abstract nor representational. He paints memories, emotional states, private judgments: the marks and the colours have specific meanings not readily available to the viewer."   — Andrew Marr in the Guardian
