North to Pallas

Today we snowshoed up to the top of Linkukero, the most northern hill of the Yllas fells. There is notably less snow than last year as can be seen by the stunted trees on the hilltops that are normally festooned with rime ice.

This is a view from the summit due north across to the Pallas fells across the intervening forests and aapa mires. The marshes in the summer are literally 'buzzing' with life. Birds migrate all the way up from Africa to nest here and take advantage of the insect bonanza.
