Just a perfect day . . .

We camped at the Totaranui camp ground for a week and everyday was as perfect as this.  The camp sites are across the road from the beach.  They are divided into large bays and the bays are separated from each other by shelter belts.  We appreciated the shade.  The amenity blocks are spread throughout.  There is no power but you can buy ice at the information centre to keep the cold things cool.  We manged very well with the solar shower and the gas cooker.  I hadn't realised there would be Wekas who have no fear and would pick up any piece of food left lying around.  They pecked at the potatoes through the plastic bag.  They can drag a loaf of bread away.   Everything soon got stored in the tent or hung in the trees out of their reach.
