Mono Monday : : Feeder

I must say that watching the Academy Awards last night was certainly entertaining...a moving letter from the Ashgar Farhadi director of "The Salesman" who boycotted the proceedings in protest over Trump's travel ban...candy bars and snacks dropping from the ceiling...a bus full of tourists who thought they were going to a costume exhibition, and Jimmy Kimmel who looked terrified but like he was still having a good time.

But the ending...I had to call Dana to see what just happened. She had turned off the TV when LaLaLand was announced because she didn't like it. I had to agree with her .

Moonlight deserved to win but they didn't exactly get their moment in the sun. Both the director, Barry Jenkins, and one of the actors, Mahershala Ali, who played Chiron are from Oakland. Ali announced that his wife had given birth four days earlier. It was all overshadowed by the dreadful mix-up in cards which caused Faye Dunaway to announce the wrong winner after Warren Beatty bailed and handed. the card to her.
Sort of a 'show just go on' mentality, I suppose.

It was a strange ending, but, hey, it's Hollywood, they're all actors and they all handled it with dignity.

I hung around the bird feeder today wondering how the visitors would look in black and white. It was very crowded as they all swarmed around after hunkering down through the storm for several days. This little  junco took the honors, mainly because he was so persistent.
