Oyster catcher

Janny blipped a photo of some Oyster Catchers in New Zealand today, slightly different from the ones we get in the UK although they have the same striking orange beak. Here the gulls, red shanks and oyster catchers were also picking up bits and pieces but from the incoming tide.
We had to stay in during the morning as our electric meter was changed to a Smart meter, we had heard reports of it taking up to 4 hours and it was fitted and set up and the man was gone within the hour. He had been on Orkney fitting three meters yesterday and had travelled down this morning leaving snow behind and arriving here in sunshine.
We went for a walk on what was left of the beach and had to dodge the waves as they crashed against the sand. It was too cold to sit outside for long but warm indoors with the sun shining through the window.
Now will March continue to come in like a lamb and go out like a lion, we will wait and see :)
A beautiful slither of a moon tonight and the sky is full of stars, sounds like there's a possibility of an aurora showing but I can't see anything yet , we're not in the right position really.
