Big Brunch

I'm proud to live in Dunscore for many reasons, and one of these is that it is a Fairtrade village and has been for more years than I care to remember. Also, having gained its Fairtrade status, it never rested on its laurels but continued to push the boundaries onwards and upwards in the pursuit of fairness and justice and to fight poverty with trade.

One of the highlights of our year is the Big event we hold during Fairtrade Fortnight in the village hall. This year it was a Big Brunch, and here are some of the people who worked very hard to make it such a success. They are standing in front of some of the delicious food on offer. I particularly enjoyed the mango compote :-)

The hall was full to bursting with stalls selling goods which were either Fairtrade or locally made and there was a real buzz about the place. Our MP, Richard Arkless, and Colin Smyth who is Fairtrade Champion on the local council, both visited with their families, and the photographer from the Standard came along too, so we hope that all the publicity will spread the Fairtrade message far and wide.
