Heronwatch

Every year our local Wildlife Trust runs Heronwatch at The Boathouse in Ellesmere. There are live cameras trained on their nests on Moscow Island on the Mere so that their progress can be observed.

There are lots of nests with sitting birds and several chicks have already hatched. We were watching the antics of three in one of the nests.

The blip is of my friend Edward who is the main organiser for Heronwatch with the live screens. I'm sorry about the quality of the shot, it was difficult to place him because of the light coming in. It looks as if the model heron is giving him a peck, I hadn't noticed that at the time!

I bumped into a relative from my home village in the Boathouse cafe and it was good to catch up.
