Pictorial blethers

The new wall

I've blipped this stretch of drystane dyke before, when it was under construction and again when it was just being finished off. Today it looks as if it's been there a while, though the tell-tale lack of moss gives it away. It's a lovely piece of work, with buttresses on the far side to stop it collapsing into the soft ground beyond, a result presumably of seepage from the artificial lake.

One of these afternoons when I forget all the gloom of being here in bad weather and rejoice in a good walk under a warm sun. The car thermometer read 16ºC where it was parked; by the time we were home, 15 minutes later, it was back to 5º. Still beautiful, though.
