Life in Sunny Dubai

Last Exit / Dubai Canvas

I haven't done a collage for ages, so today, you have two!

It's been quite a day today! :)

G left earlier than normal, and I had to jump up as I had to get some things ready to meet up with her later; armed with a snack as she had an appointment with her oncologist! Got there without any problem, and everyone at the clinic is very happy with G's results and progress. Five years this year; it's huge! We decided champagne is definitely on for when we get home.

But first, on our way back, we stopped of at the Last Exit... something blipped by AbuDhabiAndrew, and yesterday whilst at the hairdresser, Elvie said her and some friends drove out all the way to this place just to check it out! VERY COOL it is too. Full of Americana, on a cooler day, I should imagine you could spend several hours here just looking at all the small details; of which there are many - all automobile related; even the sinks in the washrooms are made from tyres!

We both had hotdogs made using Angus beef, and they were delicious. They've made an air-conditioned "hangout" room where you can sit at cotton reels and enjoy 50's American music (from a jukebox) and even have a game of fussball. I'm not sure if we would drive out just to eat as Elvie did, but we would certainly take a friend to experience it! ;)

And then, on the way home, G said she wanted to check out the Dubai Canvas, a 3D street art festival held at City Walk 2, somewhere we haven't really checked out, so we did just that. That too was fascinating. Apart from the actual art where G went up a hot air balloon and I walked a tightrope, the development itself is very unusual. A very European style street with food outlets I haven't seen anywhere else. It would be great to check it out in the evening when it is cooler.

And we did open a little bottle of champagne after dinner to celebrate all the good things God is doing in our lives. :)
