MonoMonday: Small

John is counting the small growth rings on this huge piece of Douglas Fir trunk on the beach. He came up with 177. That means the tree was growing in 1840 somewhere around here.
We are in Astoria to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary. Driving over the Coastal Mountain Range on the way here we were in a snow storm. The day here was unexpectedly sunny, albeit cool. The place we are staying is right on the river. A driver took us to dinner in a 1937 Studebaker, a service the hotel provides. And the salmon dinner was delicious!
In the extra is a close up of the rings. Thank you Skeena for hosting Monomonday this month!
