Catkins

We had a rude awakening at 2:20 a.m. today...Finlay was barking in his crazy dog mode, which he normally reserves for the postman and the charity bag scammers that keep stuffing things through our letterbox.

He shut up after a few minutes, which usually means the threat has gone away, but we were awake for ages. On getting up this morning I found that the side gate to our garden had been opened and someone had moved the patio door lever to the up position...fortunately we have solid bolt locks top and bottom of the door. It would appear that we have had intruders and Finlay scared them off.

It was also babysitting day again, so I was up again at 5:30 and on the road to Doncaster at 7. Granddaughter was a bit out of sorts, very quiet and pale looking...so after Mum had gone to bed we watched Snow White and The Seven Dwarves...her current favourite film. I had never seen it all the way through before and I must confess to still not having seen it all again! I don't think I missed too much.....

We did venture out this afternoon for some fresh air...and I found a tree laden with these bright catkins. Some sort of willow - possibly goat willow. We then went to the swings for a while and she soon had colour back in her cheeks.

Home by 4:30 pm and out for a walk with Finlay, just a short one today. Already reached 13,000 steps!
