Blipmeet Tate Britain

A lovely time today meeting new blippers and those whom I've been following or who follow me. We met outside the White Swan near Vauxhall Bridge, a crowd of people standing outside the pub waiting for it to open. What an impression that must have given to passers by.

With so many people some had quite a wait for food but we couldn't understand why Igor's soup and Anniemay's sandwich took so long especially as fish and chips had been cooked, delivered and eaten before their food arrived. We had jacket potatoes and I'm now calling on minimum standards to be imposed on the size of jacket potatoes. Ours were tiny. This is product reduction gone too far. Jacket potatoes should be large, not the size of an apple.

After lots of chat we dispersed to the Tate Britain to see thr Hockney exhibition. We had a little time to kill so went to look at other galleries first. From what we saw it will replay a further visit. This is Susan looking at an Elizabethan era painting, wanting to jump into it I think. There were so many interesting photo opportunities that I've included some as extras.

Finally to the Hockney exhibition. We'd seen his work at an earlier event at the Royal Academy which was inspirational. This was good, but not quite as inspirational as at the RA. While some of his work is very accessible, particulalry his later work in the Wolds, his iPad work and his obersvational drawings many pieces I found a challenge to see what he was trying to get at. I liked his photography and his view that a single photograph cannot convey the majesty of a given situation and I see that he's challenging perspective, point of view and transparency. But I couldn't always undertand what the exhibition notes meant!

We had a cup of tea and most insipid scone, both of which were expensive, in the cafe before setting off home. All the other blippers had gone by then. Thanks to Hildarose for organising the event and very nice it was to meet you all. When's the next?
