One year on

Spent the day at a Kent Schools Under 15 Rugby Tournament at Gravesend. How time flies as I refereed at the same tournament last year. A very good day, refereed the semi final and was assistant referee for the final. Twenty schools took part so we ended up refereeing 7 games each of 6 minutes each way.

The referee team were, with one exception, all over 60 which given the young gazelles who were playing made the game quick so 6 minutes a match was quite enough thank you. It wasn't so much the games but the gaps between games which meant aging muscles had time to relax and stiffen up.

A good day was had by all, the weather was kind, up to 17C in the afternoon and some good rugby played.

By way of celebrating National Pie Week I made a Fidgit Pie to dinner, this is a receipe from my home county of Shropshire made from potatoes, apples, smoked ham, cider, cream and wholegrain mustard topped with a short crust pastry.
