The Robert C Seamans

To Wellington this morning for the monthly two days of meeting. After finishing today's meeting, I was able to take a short run in the local area; although in a different hotel to the usual one, my run took in much of the same area as always, including the waterfront where this steel hulled brigantine from the USA was berthed at Queens Wharf. Owned by an organisation called SEA (Sea Education Association), it sails around the Pacific.

The SSV Robert C. Seamans is one of two tall ship research vessels operated by Sea Education Association, an internationally recognised leader in ocean education. Throughout the year, the ship hosts semester and summer voyages throughout the Pacific Ocean, including ports of call in Polynesia, Fiji, American Samoa and New Zealand.

It is currently in Wellington for a visit, having arrived last week. Apparently they undertake environmental research in their "home port" of Woods Hole MA, and on the oceans.
