Photo etchings

Had my second class this evening. Step 2. Choose a photo. Using Photoshop (Channel Mixer/Monochrome/Grayscale/Bitmap) and a few other tweeks along the way, we created our images. Mine is the duck on the far right. Then our instructor took the files to another computer, changed them again and output as one big "file" onto polymer film. As shown.  One side is the emulsion. Next step is next week. Burning these images onto plates using a vacuum table and illumins (15) and then a whole bunch of fixing steps and the etching the plate. ??? That's as much as I know. Learning lots and very fun. A very small hands-on class with a very talented print maker. Check our www.burnttoaststudio.com and look for Lee McKay. Very lovely reduction wood prints. ;-)
