52 Years on

Yesterday I back bliped my first skiing holiday at Easter in 1965 on the Wanzelwand & Fellhorn mountains near Oberstdorf. Back then I lived in Trinidad with not an inkling that one day I would live in the area.

Out of picture to the left is Garmisch with Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze and to the right the mountains drop to Lake Constance. I am no good at naming mountains from photos but in the centre ought to be the Allgäuer Alpen around Oberstdorf including the odd Austrian peak.  I tried using the internet map of windmills to work it out but didn't help. From the Blip map I was looking south directly parallel to the road shown - perhaps Tochterpleach who lives at the base of the hills can help.

Was a glorious day, Angie had ridden out in the morning while Flash & I took a trailer of garden rubbish to the composting yard. This was the view on the way at Stephansried and next to us was a lovely 1958 Eicher tractor, one of many in the Oldtimer Tractor Club based in the village. The owner who is somewhat older than the tractor was clearing winter debris from the side of the road with broom and shovel. Absolutely no need but the club members seem to spend a lot of time keeping the area in and around the village clean. It is the birthplace of the well known water therapy guru Fr. Sebastian Kneipp who was a monk at the Benedictine monastery at Ottobeuren.

Felt on top of the world and of course thought of Pep in the UK, for whom the Blip is dedicated. Have shown as an extra, our stop for a walk and a very friendly cat that appeared out of the forest. In the photo it hadn't worked out quite how friendly Flash is. However a minute later, we were having a good stroking session. I think the cat belongs to the girl who gave us the ducks yesterday. Her's is the closest (only) house around.

Back home suddenly had a kidney stone attack which laid me low for the rest of the day. Think the clearing up of twig debris with a rake had dislodged a stone. Indeed in the evening, a largish stone appeared. By bedtime, back to normal.
