Llanbedrog

Dim and dismal start to the day but undeterred we set off to explore the Llyn Peninsula and just as we were approaching Criccieth the sun came out.  We had a pit stop at Llanbedrog, loved the newly painted beach huts, albeit in the car park rather than on the beach.  Then we went over to Plas Glyn-y-Weddw (Oriel Plas Glyn-y-WeddwThe Grade II listed dower house, built in 1856/57 for Lady Elizabeth Love Jones-Parry of Madryn Estate, is a prime example of a Victorian Gothic mansion and is situated on the southern coast of the Llŷn Peninsula.

Plas Glyn y Weddw has a long association with art as it was purpose built to house the widow's own art collection. With its magnificent Jacobean staircase, hammer beam roof and 10 airy gallery spaces, it rightly bears the name Gallery in the Vale of the Widow. It was no suprise therefore that Cardiff entrepreneur Solomon Andrews seized upon the opportunity at the Madryn Estate sale of 1896 to purchase Plas Glyn-y-Weddw and turn it into a public arts venue.
Today they stage changing exhibitions by premier artists from Wales and beyond.)

After coffee and cakes in the lovely tea rooms we explored the galleries and fine pieces of local artwork and then continued our trip right round the Peninsular to Bardsey Island ......  It was then that the sun went in and the clouds descended obliterating any more lovely views on our return journey.
Aaaaaw well, it was beautiful while it lasted.

A&C's last night with us so we spent it in the local pub in Llanbedr with a slap up dinner, real ales and vino!
