Mass slaughter

I hoed the rosebed and the gravel path today. Both were thick with sycamore seedlings, hundreds of them. We knew it was going to be a bad year when we watched the winged seeds spinning down in the autumn. I'm hopeful that if I keep hoeing I will keep control.
Meanwhile the rosebed which looked so brown and barren a few weeks ago has sprung to life with not only sycamore seedlings but also these anemone blanda, primroses of various shades and also varieties of daffodils. The roses are shooting, it all looks so optimistic!
A day of rugby on TV today, last 6 Nations day of the season. N will watch all three matches back to back. I will watch the England match, not very knowledgably but patriotically!
