Back to the Future

Behold the Hague’s newest statue honoring a co-founder and designer of our Dutch constitutional monarchy, Johan Rudolph Thorbecke (1798 - 1872).

It has only just been revealed to the public by our Prime Minister Mark Rutte on February 11th at the Lange Voorhout facing our Parliament.

The sculptor Thom Puckey (1948) created this 7m high three dimensional diptych made of white marble and stainless steel, symbolizing Thorbecke looking into the 21st century from his 19th century study viewing a group modern day of people equally discussing at a table.

(Naughty detail is de ladies skirt one can look into)

Thanks for dropping in, have a nice day!
