Vung Tau, Vietnam

A very hot and sticky day taking in the sights of this vibrant town in the south of Vietnam.

We visited the statue of Jesus Christ which I thought was unusual being in a country with so few Christians, it was an impressive sight similar to the one in Rio. We then went on to see the laying Buddha in the Nirvana Temple which was quite a site and where I photographed the woman in my main image. After a short journey we would find ourselves at the very beautifully located Villa Blanche (white mansion) which was a summer retreat for many dignitaries of the state. Finally onto the temple of the Whale, Vietnamese are very superstitious about the Whale and believe they can protect the fishermen out at sea. When a Whale is found dead and beached they collect all the bones and preserve them so a temple for them is not unusual. We finished the day off by wondering around more Street markets.

Extras include:

Tree coast line of Vietnam
Sweet little girl selling chewing gum
World's hottest dog
Sleeping on the job
A walk amongst the blossom
Sunset
