Now, as I see it......

Walking

After all the driving during the last few days the car stayed firmly parked today. We had a couple of walks; firstly round the town to see what changes there were since we were last here, and to do a little food shopping. Later, W wanted to go and see the grave of the writer and poet George Mackay Brown who lived in Stromness until his death in 1996. The cemetery is in a wonderful position right on the beach but about a half hour walk from town across a headland. During the walk we had warm sunshine, gales, warm sunshine, rain that felt like needles hitting your face, warm sunshine, hailstones and more warm sunshine. Thankfully we were well prepared and wearing the right clothes but it is amazing how quickly the weather changes; and being so open, we could watch each storm come in and make sure we were well protected. This is the view from the road on the way back to town.

I've added an extra of the view from the side of our cottage which may be of interest to Blipper StuartDB, given his Blip a couple of years ago: https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2061878357808646697
