Walking the Walls

It was pouring with rain when I got up this morning, so I decided a bit of retail therapy was the order for the day, and headed down the M3 through torrential rain to Southampton Westquay ... then the sun came out and it was wall-to-wall blues skies and fluffy white clouds.  So the shopping was abandoned and I walked around the old medieval town and town walls.

As I walked the walls I came across this statue of John le Fleming (1295-1336), who was one of the first mayors of Southampton in 1315.  I wonder what he would think of today's city.
