Funeral Grief

Seventeen-year-old African American Quanice Hayes was killed by the Portland police in February. After nearly six weeks, his body was released to the family by the police.
His funeral was held this afternoon in a moving ceremony at Philadelphia Community Missionary Baptist Church. The white casket carrying his body was carried out of the church, followed by his grieving family.
Outside of the church, Members of Black Lives Matter and Don't Shoot PDX unfurled this banner in the pouring rain and shouted out the need for justice. The pouring rain fit the mood of this grief-filled afternoon.
