Mr Valiant and the Fungi

Valente, in Portuguese - sounds like a name from Pilgrim's Progress... He leads the Cante Alentejano in the Adega. Went in at lunchtime to see if we could catch the owner of the Land, to copy some of the newer documents. The gentleman to the left of Valente had brought in a load of mushrooms he'd found; Valente whipped out his knife and began peeling them, then went back to the kitchen and cooked them; then returned and carefully chopped them up - and we all then nibbled at them with toothpicks (as in Valente's mouth in the photo) - very good, especially with the wild watercress served with it.

The sequel to the story is that we ended up buying a kilo of them, and in a mad moment, inviting the Padre to eat them with us tonight...

The extras show the peeled fungi, and a first attempt at Marcus' challenge this week - the filter was the condensation on our kitchen window and shows the wild weather we've had today. Presumably I can't enter it as an extra??
