Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Trail Blazers

When we were first on this island we had Rene and Nicole build some trails all, over our property (in the 90s)   Nicole is from Germany and Rene grew up in Prague…they met in the mid 80s on Galiano Island, British Columbia.    They did amazing work that I appreciate every day we are here… including lots of rock work by Rene —I’m sure he was an Inca in a former life!   They are just about both retired now (Rene did home health care on Galiano, Rene built more trails and steps for the parks department) and hadn’t been here for quite awhile so we picked them up for lunch ( I made veggie-quinoa soup and Nicole brought freshly made potato salad with very fresh eggs from her chickens, and canned plums from their garden last year) and had a lovely walk around in some sunshine at a great time of year.   I always learn something about the flora….and have new mushrooms identified. (future blip)  This is one of my favorite parts of our trails with all the moss, which was also enjoyed by Babaloo, their new (not young) dog.    Wonderful to spend some time with these two. ( and of course a bit of political talk ... what on earth is the US thinking!!!!)

And now for dinner we have more potato salad and fresh prawns that our next door neighbor caught today and dropped off!  How cool is that?

Extra:  sometimes we find surprises over our trails (farthest tree a new one  .. will require chain saw. )
