New bridge!

Saturday
This morning, after a Skype call with Laura, I took advantage of the warm dry weather, and started cleaning the windows in the breakfast room, inside and out. The breakfast room is a lovely sunny room, but the sunny days we've had this week have been accentuating how dirty the windows and screens had become in our absence! After lunch we went biking again on the bike trail, this time further north, as we wanted to see the progress that had been made on the new bridge carrying the I-71 over the Little Miami river valley. The new bridge was apparently officially opened last November, though as you can see work still remains to be done in dismantling one of the old spans beyond. At 240 feet over the Little Miami River, it is the tallest bridge in Ohio. The new bridge is a balanced cantilever design, and is supposedly good for 100 years. One of the advantages is there is no metalwork in need of painting periodically.
This evening, we went out to see the excellent movie "A United Kingdom", which I can thoroughly recommend!  The film is based on the true story of heir to the throne of Bechuanaland, which would later become independent Botswana. Seretse Khama of the Bamangwate tribe studies law in London immediately after World War II. There he meets and falls in love with a woman whom he eventually marries, despite the protests of their families, and opposition from the British government, which is concerned about relations with South Africa and the stability of the entire region of Southern Africa.
