Association for the German Language

I suppose it's a bit like the Académie française, and until today I did not that such a body existed for German, or that it had its headquarters in Wiesbaden.

That'll be why we all speak Hochdeutsch here in Hessen...

Exactly like how everyone speaks like the queen in Britain.

I find dialects here really difficult to cope with, it takes me ages to get to understand someone new.  As a general rule, I find it easier to deal with North German accents than I do the Southern ones.  This is more a reflection of my langauge skills (or lack of them) than anything else.
