Sgwarnog: In the Field

Ripples

No sign of the Mandarins from my canal walk today, but a heron instead.

I went to an interesting talk by Andrew Sayer at lunchtime, focused on the main themes from his book Why We Can't Afford the Rich. As he's a Lancaster sociologist I thought I'd have a quick peek to see if there was anyone there from my time (I left in '93), and found no fewer than five of my former postgrad/postdoc colleagues in esteemed positions, including the person that I job-shared my first lectureship with. Ah well, the road not taken and all that.
