Nature's Power

How quickly Queensland's blue skies have returned. Yet, many of the region's rivers are in flood and hundreds of homes have been inundated. Some rivers have recorded their highest levels since records began, and even towns with flood defences saw them breached like a child's toy. Communications in many areas are cut (roads, electricity, rail etc) as the huge sting in the cyclone's tail continues to spread destruction. Now New South Wales is affected too.

How incongruous it felt to find an unaffected route to Manly beach where (apart from powerful winds) all seemed calm. Just a few fallen trees bear witness to nature's power, inclucing this giant which flattened a picnic area as if made of tin foil.
