Journey's End

Up at just past four this morning and Bailey and I were ready for the arrival of the van at five. Bailey was very pleased to see everyone and managed to stay awake for the whole journey whilst the rest of us slept at various points. We were at the gorgeous Gloucester Services by 7:25 for a walk for Bailey; a browse at lovely things and a bit of breakfast.

Back on the road after that and we were in Newquay by 11:00. We scoped out the location of our accommodation and then headed to Fistral to buy new sunnies for the bestest friend who had left hers at home. Looking at the weather forecast for the week they are going to be a very necessary purchase. Lunch down there too before we went on a drive to the end of Pentire headland and then round to Polly Joke which was potentially ruled out for future surfing.

Time then to get into our accommodation and very lovely it is too. More spacious than we had thought from the pictures and with gardens and a path down to the estuary and a view out to the sea. Unpacking and a bit of sorting of the surf store to actually accommodate the surf stuff and the bikes.

And tonight we have waited in for the shopping delivery whilst the favourite and the official Bailey sitter went off for their first surf. We walked down to join them and had this view across Fistral Beach - complete with our tiny surfers in the distance. A beer and a meeting with a 10 week old border collie which made Bailey's day before we headed back for pre-made chilli and a relax for all. Bailey has finally fallen fast asleep. I'm hoping that lasts.
